Music Review: Lisa Loeb "No Fairy Tale" CD
Given the fact that we are only 3 weeks into 2013, calling Lisa Loeb's new CD the best pop rock album of the year might sound like a joke, so let me rephrase...
Lisa Loeb's new CD is so good it will definitely become one of the best pop rock albums of 2013!
"No Fairy Tale" is Lisa's first pop album since 2004's "The Way It Really Is" and it was worth the wait. Loeb wastes no time in letting the listener know she is back and ready to rock.
The album starts with the perfect one-two punch of the title track "No Fairy Tale" followed by her ode to the decade that kicked her career into high gear, "The 90's." "No Fairy Tale" was Co-Produced by Loeb along with New Found Glory's lead guitarist Chad Gilbert. The two mesh well and Chad definitely brings out a rock vibe in Loeb's acoustic playing.
Another notable artist lending her talents to "No Fairy Tale" is Tegan Quin, better known as one half of the Canadian pop sensation Tegan and Sara. The Quin sisters wrote 2 of the 12 tracks including "A Hot Minute" and "The Worst" with Tegan lending harmony vocals to both.
Loeb wrote or co-wrote the other 10 tracks and there is not a clunker in the bunch. Perfectly sequenced and perfectly executed, "No Fairy Tale" will be the CD that's playing in your car from now until the end of summer.
Drumroll please... 10 out of 10 drumsticks!!!
