    Get Jiro! Graphic Novel Review

Get Jiro! is the latest graphic novel from DC's Vertigo Comics and the first ever written by Anthony Bourdain (Food Network's Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations)! Bourdain started out writing novels back in 1997 and has been a comic book fan his entire life. Along with co-author Joel Rose (Kill Kill Faster Faster) and art by Langdon Foss (Heavy Metal), Get Jiro! is an entertaining, delicious, and bloody romp.

Set in a dystopian future where the world is run by two rival chefs, Jiro is the only traditional sushi chef left. Both factions want him, but all he wants to do is cook (and kill anyone in his way). Jiro kills his way to the top of the food chain while avoiding dangerous food gangs consisting of both hippies and master chefs! Reading it felt like Lucky Number Slevin with food and more violence than a Tarantino movie!

Jiro is a fun, fast paced, intense, and unique ride that leaves you wanting more. I loved how unique it was and how delicious all of the food looked (minus all of the bloodshed happening around it). Foss' artwork is fantastic and so detailed that it's easy to get lost in it.

Check out the recent interview with Bourdain at Comic-Con via G4 below.

Overall, I give Get Jiro! 8 out of 10 California Rolls!
