Music Review: Simon Townshend "Looking Out Looking In" CD
It's hard to discuss Simon Townshend without mentioning his brother but that's okay because Simon's entire life was spent at "The Who University" learning from Professor Pete.
On his 5th studio album everything he has done musically for the past 30 years finally comes together perfectly making "Looking Out Looking In" one of the best albums I have heard in quite some time.
Released this past November through Eagle Rock Entertainment, "Looking Out Looking In" finds Simon Townshend in great voice. At times he sounds very much like Pete but on songs like "Still Love" & "Making Waves" he seems to be channeling his inner Peter Gabriel.
Other stand out tracks include album opener "Forever And A Day," the title track "Looking Out Looking In" and the ode to the electric guitar "Electric Friend" that has a distinctive WHO sounding guitar intro.
"Looking Out Looking In" is currently in the CD player of my car where it will be living for weeks to come. If you're yet not familiar with Simon Townshend it's time to start looking out and looking in to this musician's music you will not be sorry.
Drumroll please... 8 out of 10 drumsticks!!!
