Concert Review: The Fixx LIVE @ The Canyon Club 9/7/2012

The Fixx took the stage this past Friday night at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA and powered through a set of chart topping hit singles as well as 6 songs from their phenomenal new CD "Beautiful Friction."

The crowd was subdued during the new songs but charismatic lead singer Cy Curnin never let up and by the time the band busted out "One Thing Leads To Another" (song 10 of a 21 song set) he had the masses eating out of his hand.

The band were in top form and guitarist Jamie West-Oram's minimalist riffs and effortless playing added an atmosphere that I have not heard in a live setting since Andy Summers of The Police.

By the end of the show the audience was in full sing-along mode and the band enjoyed the rarest of rare… a real encore!  Not the usual pre-planned encore where a band plays the hit they've been saving.  The real thing!  The lights came up, the crowd cheered for more and the band closed the show with "Less Cities, More Moving People."

Who knew that in 2012 I would finally jump on The Fixx train and while I'm here I will continue to enjoy the ride.
