Concert Review: Peter Cetera "LIVE" @ The Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall

For over 40 years Peter Cetera has been writing and performing some of the most popular songs in recorded history. First as lead singer of the band Chicago and for the last 27 years as a solo artist.

Among his achievements are 12 top 10 singles with 4 of those hitting the #1 position.

Songs such as "Next Time I Fall," "Just You 'N' Me," and "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" have been played at wedding receptions across the country and continue to be staples of Adult Contemporary Radio.

With all those achievements, what does an artist of Cetera's stature do next? How about back himself with the spectacular Pacific Symphony Orchestra and play a 3 night stand at the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa, CA!

Cetera kicked off his portion of the show with a beautiful rendition of his solo hit "Restless Heart" and that set the pace for what was to come... a night of hits performed pitch-perfect by Cetera, band and symphony.

The orchestral sounds of the Pacific Symphony, led by Conductor Richard Kaufman, perfectly complimented the music of Cetera and Chicago. Other highlights of the show included duets performed by Cetera and percussionist/background vocalist Kim Keyes. Keyes won the audience over with her vocal range as well as her spot-on imitation of Cher during the song "After All."

Cetera had the audience from the very start and engaged them even further with his "Rat Pack" style stage banter. At one point an audience member called out a request for the Chicago classic "Beginnings," a song Cetera didn't write or sing lead vocal on. Without missing a beat Cetera acknowledged his former band mate Robert Lamm by telling the audience "We'll do that one next time when Bobby's here."

As a side note -- just in case this review some how finds it's way to Mr. Cetera -- if by some chance Peter, James, Lee, Walter, Danny and Robert find themselves together on stage in the near future, I'm sure Bobby would love to sing a song with you. If the Eagles, Police, Cars and Beach Boys can get together for one last hurrah, then why not Chicago! Here's to hoping.

Drumroll please... 9 out of 10 drumsticks!!
