Blu-Ray Review: "Pretenders Loose In L.A."

Originally released in 2003 on DVD, "Pretenders Loose In L.A." finds Chrissie Hynde and company ripping through a 26-song set in support of their over-looked and highly under-rated 2002 CD release "Loose Screw."

Recorded LIVE in front of a jam packed audience at The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, CA "Pretenders Loose In L.A." is finally making its Blu-Ray debut.

The show is beautifully shot with the band playing on a streamlined, barebones stage so that the viewer can concentrate on the members and their spectacular performances. Gone are the quick cuts, unnecessary effects and MTV style editing which always feels like the the band is trying to make a subpar show look great. The picture and sound on the "Pretenders Loose In L.A." Blu-Ray Disc is phenomenal.

The bonus features on the Blu-Ray Disc include backstage footage, a concert montage and the full-length music video of the song "You Know Who Your Friends Are."

"Pretenders Loose In L.A." has always been a special release for me because I was actually at this show. So, I can tell you first hand, that not only is this an amazing concert it is also one of the best live Blu-Ray Discs I have ever seen.

My only wish would be that this concert be released on CD because Hynde along with original drummer Martin Chambers, guitarist Adam Seymour and bassist Andy Hobson were possibly the best Pretenders line-up of since James Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon were in the band.

Drumroll please... 10 out of 10 drumsticks!!
