    Garon's Best & Worst 2010: Movies

Well, 2010 is over and done, in a few hours anyway, and rather than wait a few months until I've managed to see everything I thought I'd do a best/worst list out of what I have seen this year so far.  I'd expect this list might change once I see the big films I've missed (The Kids Are All Right, Winters Bone, True Grit, Scott Pilgrim, Catfish, The Town, Buried, The King's Speech and The Fighter).

If the list changes drastically, I'll update it.  Plus you might get some more lists from the other folks here.

Let's start with the top 5 WORST movies of the year as I expect this list is pretty set in stone and to be honest, you'd have to try pretty hard to be any worse than these stinkers.

    -5-
I wish I had a dagger that reversed the time I lost to this movie.

    -4-
This movie couldn't have been hammier had it been cast entirely with swine.

    -3-
Somehow manages to make Burton's Planet of the Apes appealing.

    -2-
I could write for hours about how this remake was trash but I'll save you the time.

And the single absolute worst film of 2010 (possible of the decade):
    -1-
The most spectacular failure of an adaptation of brilliant source material I have ever seen.  This movie fails on every possible level and if we're lucky puts the nail in Shyamalan's career.

    How about the best then?

I expect this list might get populated by Scott Pilgrim and True Grit once I see them but until then, this is how the list stands:
    -10-
    Hilarious, Honest, Heartbreaking, Wonderful.

    -9-
It's kind of an awesome movie.

    -8-
There was no better comic movie this year or last year and most certainly next year.

    -7-
Tense, emotionally riveting, dark and surprising.  It makes one yearn for and dread the final entry.

    -6-
    Easy A +

    -5-
The single best horror film of the year and one of the best this decade.

    -4-
David Fincher.  Aaron Sorkin.  Jesse Eisenberg. Nuff said.

    -3-
A beautiful way to end a wonderful trilogy with an ending that cut straight to my heart.  Another Pixar Masterpiece.

    -2-
A wonderfully complex work of art from one of the best directors working today.  Gorgeous, emotional, shocking, exciting, Inception.

And the best film of 2010
    -1-

    Go see this movie immediately.

Honorable mentions:  Scott Pilgrim, Cropsey, How To Train Your Dragon

That's it guys.  As it stands right now the best and worst according to me.  But hey, it's all subjective right?  If you disagree (or agree), post a comment.  Let me know what YOU think are the best/worst of the year.

    Happy New Year!

    1. I could not agree more with The Last Airbender! I was so bummed when we managed to scrape together the money to take Lucas to see it in 3D to only to have our expectations squashed.

    2. It's too bad the films that I know will be crap I just avoid so I never have a worst list. I haven't been blown away by anything this year, but that's not going to happen every year. So far the best thing I've seen is probably The Social Network, but the most enjoyable were Scott Pilgrim and Zombieland. After my Mega-Movie weekend we'll see if that changes.
