Two of the best new shows from last season, and I suspect two of the best of this season, are now available on Blu-ray.  If you haven't seen these shows, well I suggest you give them a watch.

Glee and Modern Family have kicked off their sophomore seasons and so far are showing no signs of sophomore slump.  If you need something to carry you through the weeks between new episodes than look no further than the fantastic new season one sets.

Let's start with Glee.   It's High School Musical without the sugary sweetness of a Disney film.  A smart, charming, funny and touching show full of a wide variety of songs both old and new with a cast of quirky and interesting characters.

The blu-ray set features every episode from the shows stellar first season and some nice features to go with them.  I do love most of the songs here and it's pretty cool to have a sing along karaoke available, at least until the video game comes out.

I know Glee is hit and miss for most people but for me it was love at first sight.  I can't get enough of it and the set with its numerous features really satisfies my inner gleek.  The absolute gorgeous picture and sound only heightens the enjoyment.  This set is a definite must own.  Pick it up and experience the Glee phenom for yourself.  you'll have trouble not falling in love with its wonderful cast and touching, funny stories.

Now, Modern Family, despite my love for Glee, takes the top spot of best new comedy show.  Its cast is flawless from top to bottom, they are simply perfect.  The writing is top notch, each episode can be described as brilliant.  I'll go on record as saying that Modern Family is going to be responsible for the resurrection of the sitcom and that power is on display in full force on the season one set.  There isn't a weak episode to be had.

The show looks great on the format and the special features are top notch.  It's not often that I go through all the features on a set but for Modern Family I did just that.  The hilarity is evident throughout. 

The phenomenal success of both of these shows just proves that the American viewing audience wants great TV.  They are tired of garbage reality fare and want smart, funny, and brilliant shows.  Glee and Modern Family fit that bill perfectly.  I can only hope that the success of these two shows brings us more original and brilliant shows in the future.
