DVD Review: Nip Tuck The Complete Sixth and Final Season

Love it or hate it, the salacious FX drama Nip/Tuck has come to a close. The Sixth and Final Season lowers the curtain on one of the most shocking, craziest, sexiest, and brilliantly written shows TV has ever seen.

I'm not going to comment on the ending.  Anyone who buys this is going to do so because they are a fan and want to know how the saga of McNamara/Troy ends and I don't want to do anything to influence how they react to the final episode.

The season itself carries on in normal Nip/Tuck fashion with plenty of guts, sex, and intrigue. It was a little jarring when I saw Rose McGowan had replaced the amazing Katee Sackoff as Teddy. In fact, she seemed like a completely different character, including the loss of her Tatoos.

Again, the show doesn't seem to know what to do with Matt. I mean what else can they possibly do to him?  The past seasons have been particularly rough.  I mean if they don't know what to do with a character, why not get rid of him right?  Instead, he's a mime.

Still, it is bittersweet to see a show that I've loved so long end, even if the quality wasn't as good (still great but not as great) as the earlier seasons.

The set is woefully short on features. In face there is only a featurette Tell Me What You Don’t Like About Yourself- The Psychology Behind Plastic Surgery.   I would have expected to hear from the cast on the thoughts and feelings of the show ending or some kind of retrospective.  Something to mark the end of the show.

In the end, Season Six is a nice cap on a brilliant, if waning, show. They do pull out all the stops with storylines, guest stars, and more.

Saying goodbye sucks, but the journey to the end certainly doesn't.
