I was able to see an advanced screening of Take Me Home Tonight two weeks ago, followed by a Q&A session with Topher Grace and Teresa Palmer. I thought that the movie was great and really unexpectedly funny.
Initially, I was worried that all of the funny parts were going to be in the previews, but that definitely wasn't the case. Dan Fogler and Anna Faris really brought the funny as well.
During the Q&A session, Grace stated that they wanted to create a movie that was set in the 80s, but wasn't a cliche 80s movie with guys with huge cellphones walking around. The 80s is the setting of the movie and despite the cars and the clothing, I forgot it was the 80s while watching it. The music score is great, but the only disappointment is the fact that Eddie Money's "Take Me Home Tonight" is not actually played during the movie.
Probably some of the funniest dialogue in the movie comes from Demetri Martin's cameo as a wheelchair bound former high school classmate of Topher Grace. This movie is ripe with hilarity involving massive cocaine use, stolen vehicles, alcohol, numerous cameos, great 80s music, and pining for that long lost high school crush.
Overall I rate this movie a 7/10!
