The Last Airbender goes 3D...Why?

It looks like Paramount has inexplicably decided to make the enormous mistake of performing a 3D conversion to the upcoming film, The Last Airbender.  Shyamalan even agreeing to this ridiculousness makes me positive that he has officially lost whatever clout he had.

3D conversion is starting to feel like a tool to juice up movies that might not be able to stand on their own.  From what I've heard, The Last Airbender is not as good as it should be considering the absolute brilliance of the source material.

The conversion on Clash of the Titans was a travesty so it really makes me fear for this one.

I just wish this 3D nonsense would end already.
