Extreme Movie is yet another entry in the seemingly never ending "Blank" Movie spoof series. It's not an actual official entry in that series considering it's a different company and film makers but it is certainly interchangeable with them.

This time, it is a spoof on teen sex comedies and it is horrible. Not a second of enjoyment is to be had in this movie. It's remarkably unfunny, surprisingly so considering some of the talent involved. I can't blame the actors, they all do serviceable work here. Nothing special really. The fault of this disaster falls squarely on the writers. This movie just isn't funny.

    More after the cut!

Extreme Movie is not a typical film. It's being described more as a sketch film which makes sense. There is a storyline that goes through the film but it is interrupted by short vignettes featuring other characters at this school. Unfortunately, none of them are remotely funny. In fact, they're down right offensive. Not because of the content, but because they're being presented as comedy when in reality a third greater can probably come up with a funnier sketch.

Someone really needs to declare a moratorium on spoof movies. We'll most likely never get another Naked Gun or Airplane type film, especially with the people churning these things out nowadays. They're lazy and Extreme Movie is no exception.

It's clear the studio feels the same. The film has been finished and sitting on a shelf since 2006 and was pushed onto DVD only in the wake of the recent success of big screen comedies like Knocked Up and Superbad.

The DVD is pretty bare bones having only a commentary (to be honest I will never watch this film again, let alone to listen to the filmmakers prattle on about it.) and a behind the scenes featurette (again no thanks)

I can't possibly in good conscious recommend this movie to anyone. Unless of course you like horrible comedies with the inability to generate so much as a scoff.

Skip this movie at ALL costs.

But in case you do not heed my advice, Extreme Movie is available now.
