Starting Spring 2009, Disney will be releasing some classic animated films on Platinum Edition Blu-Ray.Pinocchio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, and Beauty and the Beast will be released from 2009 through 2010.
Disney's BD-Live Network launches in the U.S. with the upcoming Sleeping Beauty Blu-Ray release on October 7, but with the release of Snow White next fall, the service will launch world wide.
Another interesting release is Destino, the unfinished animated feature collaboration between Walt Disney and famed surrealist painter Salvador Dali. The project, started in 1946, was rediscovered in 2003 and completed by Walt's nephew, Roy E. Disney. The film will be released for the first time along with an all-new feature-length documentary that examines the surprising partnership between Dali and Disney.
