    Four For You!

    Hello Readers,

It's late on a Friday night. I'm back in the swing of things and playing catch up on some movies. Tonight though, we'll be taking a step away from movies. I'll be posting reviews of The Lookout and 12 and Holding in the next day or so but in the mean time on to the post.

Today is the first in a series of blogs called Four For You where I will refer four things for your viewing or listening pleasure. I like sharing the stuff I'm enjoying with others so I hope you guys give some of these things a chance.

Now, I spend a lot of time on entertainment and pop culture. Probably too much but I love it. Comics, Television, movies, music. I love it all. I've recently discovered a some what new form of entertainment. Well, new to me at least. Podcasts.

Now I know podcasting isn't exactly brand new but I've only just recently discovered them. I'm mainly listening to movie, comic book, and comedy related casts and am expanding to others. That said, I've decided that the first Four For You blog would focus on Podcasts. Read on...

    Never Not Funny
    www.pardcast.com
    Also available via ITunes

This is probably the funniest podcast available right now. I was listening today at work and unfortunately had to stop momentarily because I was on the verge of hysterical laughter and didn't want my new peers to think me crazy. I resumed a few minutes later and laughed out loud anyway. The show is simple. Jimmy Pardo, former third baseman Mike Schmidt, and Producer Matt Belknap talk about comedy, life, music, growing up and everything in between. It's a show where you can feel the genuine friendships of these guys and as you listen you feel like part of the gang. Best of all it's fucking funny. Check it out on Itunes. Plenty of episodes to choose from and none will disappoint.

I Love Movies with Doug Benson
    www.handheldcomedy.com
    Also available via Itunes

Doug Benson, you probably know him from "Best Week Ever", takes his bobanddavid.com blog and brings it to life live at the UCB theatre in LA. He welcomes celebrity guests, mostly comics, each week to discuss you guessed it, movies. Doug is an encyclopedia of movie knowledge and is pretty damn funny to boot. Each episode ends with a game of Leonard Maltin where the guest and Doug attempt to stump each other with casts of movies. It's very funny and most of the episodes are only 30 minutes or so long and won't take much from your day. The bad news is the show is on hiatus and potentially might not be back. I hope this isn't true cause it's a great listen and I am most assuredly awaiting Doug's return.

    Battleship Pretension www.battleshippretension.com

This is a new podcast to the block. They're up to their fifth episode. David and Tyler are basically a couple of film geeks who spend an hour and change discussing general film topics. They've recently covered film violence and over (and under) rated movies. They don't do reviews. They just talk about movies in general. Stuff they like stuff they don't. It's a comfortable cast to slip into and just enjoy the conversations. They're smart guys and I've already added a movie or two to my netflix based on their opinions. Worth a listen for movie buffs!

    Jordan, Jesse GO!
    www.maximumfun.org
    Available via Itunes

This is another couple of guys sitting around conversing except they get the occasional celebrity guest. Jesse can also be heard on the Sound of Young America podcast but I enjoy the back and forwarth with Jesse that they have on this cast. It's a laid back chat show with lots of laughs and interesting conversations. Worth a listen for sure. They've got plenty of episodes on itunes to check out.

Honorable mention goes to director Kevin Smith's Smodcast which was just barely edged out by Jordan, Jesse, Go! You can hear that one at www.quickstopent.com

Well that's this round of Four For You. Upcoming lists will feature comic books and music for you to have a peak and listen to.

Thanks for reading and please give the guys above a listen. They're all worth your time.

    Till next time!
